Redbridge Quay – Planning Approved

Planning Approved for 90 New Homes at Redbridge Quay,
Part of the Wirral Waters Development Scheme

Forshaw Land & Property Group have partnered with developer Qualis Developments, to deliver 90 high quality homes in Redbridge Quay. In addition, the development is part of the Wirral Waters development scheme, which is currently one of the largest regeneration projects in the UK. Meanwhile, the construction work is to be carried out by Forshaw Construction.

Wirral Waters regeneration master plan represents a significant step into the large-scale, design-led residential communities market for Forshaw, and cements their ongoing growth across the North West.

Redbridge Quay, situated on the historic Birkenhead waterfront is a major part of Peel Waters long-term vision to develop Peel’s land assets into an exciting, vibrant and sustainable mixed-use waterfront location. Furthermore, demonstrating a shared ambition to develop homes which add value to local areas, sensitive to the heritage and integrity of the surrounding area. As a result, Forshaw and Qualis are moving forward with the development which will drive rejuvenation, attract investment, and provide required new housing stock for the area.

The second phase of the Redbridge Quay development will be built adjacent to the recently revitalized East Float Quay, which features the Grade II listed former grain warehouses. In addition, this area will incorporate dockside walkways, new public realm space, a new pocket park, and green landscaping.

    The Transformation of Wirral Waters

Wirral Waters plan also encompasses 500 acres of former dockland on the Wirral Peninsula transforming the former docks into a sustainable, mixed use development serving the North West.

At the heart of this regeneration is Redbridge Quay. Specifically a brand new residential address within a neighbourhood that will be a leading waterside area. Furthermore, the 90-unit project will bring to market a collection of contemporary homes which have been designed to maximise the views across the dock and further redefine this part of the waterfront as a modern and exciting place for people to live.

With the backing of Peel Waters, the development hopes to provide:

    • High-quality modern homes
    • Sustainable, brownfield-led development
    • Community-driven placemaking
    • Long-term economic and social stimulus for Birkenhead

Forshaw and Qualis, who together have several decades of property experience, will ensure that the lifestyle offered by the homes at Redbridge Quay are finished to the highest standard.

The architectural design is inspired by both Victorian terraces and grade two-listed grain warehouses. This influence is evident in features such as double-height rooms and open-plan living spaces.

September 2019, Worrall St Construction Update

It’s been a busy summer since the existing building has been demolished and the land where  The Waterhouse will eventually stand.

Since the last update, we’ve turned the entire site over to ensure that there are no obstructions in the soil. Our remediation contractor (Forshaw Demolition) has then compacted the soil in layers ensuring that the ground is ready to receive and support our building. Our main contractor has taken possession of the site and the piling rig is there now driving the concrete piles deep into the ground, these will be what the building stands upon when construction is completed, the cabins are in place and the perimeter fencing to the road is now up too.

There is a couple of weeks piling ahead of us before we can start pouring concrete, which will be the next update.
