Loom Street is a truly distinctive townhouse in the heart of the trendy Northern Quarter of Manchester. This unique family home benefits from extensive natural light with the added delights of twenty first living including private garage and entertaining deck. Comprising a narrow rectangular site tucked between two much larger buildings down a narrow back street, we identified an opportunity to demolish the existing semi-derelict single storey workshop that occupies the site.
Forshaw's vision was to deliver a contemporary urban townhouse inspired by some of the best urban housing around the globe. The post-industrial housing of American cities, the quirky narrow houses of Holland and the neo-modernist multi-storey dwellings of Tokyo.
Our Architects, DLA, have developed a unique home which we feel fits this brief, a high-quality single dwelling over 5 storeys and a roof terrace offering views out over Ancoats. This ambitious project is intended to provide something not yet seen in Ancoats and a diversification of the housing stock in the area.
